WHAT IS FAST MIMICKING?

Fast mimicking is a form of intermittent fasting that helps beginner fasters achieve their weight loss goals without giving up food completely.

There are many reasons a person may want to do a fast mimicking diet. It may benefit the older person who has to take medications with food, yet still wants to fast.

This method of intermittent fasting works perfectly for those special cases where a person can’t do a traditional fast because of complicated health reasons like diabetes.

You can still create a caloric deficit and lose weight.

You can also still experience the many health benefits people who do intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets get to experience.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF FM DIETS

There are a few different types of fast mimicking diets out there that fall under this category. One of which I did to lose 50 pounds.

I lost 50 pounds by doing the 5:2 fast. The way that it works is you get to eat 500 calories a day on two consecutive days of the week. I chose Mondays and Thursdays.

On the remaining five days of the week, I ate like normal.

You can also try the 4:3 fast. This works along the same lines as 5:2 fast. You reduce your calories to 500 calories a day on three consecutive days of the week, and then eat normally on the remaining four

Both types of fasts work wonderfully to reduce weight and still reap the benefits of intermittent fasting.

If you struggle with health issues and are concerned about going without food for a period of time, try fast mimicking because it’s the perfect way for beginners to learn the process of intermittent fasting little by little.

Fast mimicking diets are for those people who can’t completely go without food. They can still reduce the calories enough to experience ketosis like intermittent fasters do, and lose weight.

Ketosis is the process of ketone production which acts as a switch to turn on the fat-burning process in the body. Instead of using sugar for fuel, the body uses up its own fat storage.

That is achievable, even with fast mimicking.

WHO SHOULD DO THESE FASTS?

Fast mimicking is best for those with compromised immune systems, and health issues that prevent them from doing full intermittent fasting programs like OMAD (one meal a day), or 16:8 where you skip breakfast.

Fast mimicking is a light version of intermittent fasting that will work for the elderly person because you don’t have to go without food. You have light foods like salads and soups.

You will have to count calories on a fast mimicking diet because as long as you stay under 500 calories for women, and 600 calories for men, you will remain in a fasted state.

BENEFITS OF A FM DIET

The benefits of fast mimicking are huge. They are the same benefits that intermittent fasters experience or any ketogenic dieter experiences.

Those rewards come in the way of better health. The benefits of ketosis will show up in your skin. It will reduce acne, eczema, and many other skin ailments.

I used to suffer from terrible eyelid eczema, but not anymore. Since achieving ketosis on a regular basis I have not had one bout of eczema.

Ketosis also benefits the heart. It reduces heart disease, high blood pressure, normalizes blood sugar, and lowers cholesterol. It benefits those with diabetes and prevents it as well. It also prevents Alzheimer’s.

Ketosis benefits your cells as well. It promotes cell regeneration through autophagy and increases the human growth hormone. It acts as a fountain of youth, by restoring wrinkles and giving you a healthy glow.

There are so many benefits to achieving ketosis that it’s hard to mention them all. Every body is different and reacts differently while in ketosis, but generally speaking the majority experiences the same health benefits according to Harvard studies. I’ll link the study below.
